Parkrun started with just 13 runners in Bushy Park, Teddington, back in 2004. Fast forward to 2024, and it's a beloved tradition in communities across the UK, including right here in Harrow.
So, what is Parkrun? It's a weekly 5k run—or walk, if you prefer—in your local park. But it's not just about the exercise. It's about community spirit, making new friends, and enjoying a well-earned coffee in a local café after the run.
Harrow's Parkrun takes place every Saturday at 9am sharp in Harrow Recreation Ground on Pinner Road. After completing the 5k route, participants are invited to the Harrow St. Mary’s pavilion for refreshments—a perfect chance to chat and unwind.
Anyone can join in the fun, and it's completely free! All you need to do is register online and bring a scannable copy of your barcode to the event.
But what if you're not a runner? No problem! Parkrun is always on the lookout for volunteers to help with tasks such as marshalling, timing, recording results, and admin. It's a great way to get involved and support this fantastic community event.
In 2024, Harrow Parkrun has hosted 394 events with 9563 finishers and 689 volunteers. It's a testament to the strength and spirit of our community. So why not join in?
